Last Updated: January 12, 2026

1. INTRODUCTION

SoloSafe ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information of our users ("User" or "you"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you access or use the SoloSafe mobile application (the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. This Policy operates in conjunction with our Terms of Service.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with you.

2.1. Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Registration: Name, email address, phone number, date of birth (to verify you are 18+), and gender.
  • Identity Verification Data (Sensitive): To maintain community safety, we require government-issued identification (e.g., passport, driver's license) and biometric data (e.g., a "selfie" photo) to verify your identity against your ID document.
  • User Profile: Profile photos, biography, and travel preferences.
  • Emergency Contacts: The names and phone numbers of contacts you designate to receive safety alerts. You represent that you have their consent to share this information.
  • User Content: Photos, videos, comments, and posts you upload to the community feed.

2.2. Information Collected Automatically

  • Location Data: We collect precise and approximate geolocation data to facilitate travel connections and enable safety features (e.g., SOS alerts, "Check-in").
  • Device Information: Device model, operating system (Android/iOS), unique device identifiers (IDs), IP address, and mobile network information.
  • Usage Data: Logs of your interactions with the Service, including search history, pages viewed, and timestamps.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your data for the following specific purposes:

  • Safety & Verification: To verify your identity, conduct background checks (where applicable), and prevent fraud or impersonation.
  • Core Services: To match you with other travelers for shared segments and to display relevant travel information.
  • Emergency Services: To broadcast your location and status to your designated emergency contacts or law enforcement in the event of an SOS activation.
  • Communication: To send you service updates, security alerts, and administrative messages.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal requests.

4. SHARING OF YOUR INFORMATION

We do not sell your personal data. We disclose your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Identity Verification Partners: We share your Government ID and biometric data with third-party verification providers solely for the purpose of authenticating your identity and conducting background screenings.
  • Other Users: Your public profile (name, photo, travel plans) is visible to other verified Users. Your real-time location is never shared publicly; it is only shared with specific contacts or Users you explicitly authorize.
  • Service Providers: We use third-party vendors for data hosting (e.g., AWS, Firebase), mapping services (e.g., Google Maps), and analytics.
  • Law Enforcement: We may disclose your information (including location and user details) if required by law or if we believe strictly necessary to prevent imminent physical harm or financial loss.

5. DATA RETENTION

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service.

Identity Documents: Sensitive ID images are retained only as long as necessary to complete verification and for a limited period thereafter for fraud prevention audit trails, after which they are securely deleted or anonymized.

6. YOUR DATA RIGHTS & DELETION

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information.

Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account directly within the App Settings or by emailing us. Upon deletion, we will permanently remove your personal data from our active databases, except for data we are required to retain by law (e.g., for fraud prevention or legal records).

7. SECURITY

We implement rigorous administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information. However, no electronic transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The Service is restricted to users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such data, we will delete it immediately.

9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
